About Mechanical Brewery

Mechanical Brewery is a microbrewery in Cherry Hill, New Jersey focused on conscientiously constructed, uniquely designed, hand crafted beer.

James Griffin has always had a passion for the fundamental mechanics of the things that surround him. Growing up in Hickory, Virginia, he learned from an early age about the importance of understanding the inner workings of things from his Grandfather, Wayne Scull, an experienced machinist. Learning how to operate, take-apart and repair everyday essentials like TVs, cars, and appliances became a necessary hobby.

He soon came to value the idea of reusing, recycling and re-constructing everything from cars, and stereos, to computers and clothes. Combined with a designer's eye, James creates unique and useful pieces that have became his hallmark as a designer and business owner.

After launching a successful autobody customizing business in 2007, he decided to take his passion for creating in a new direction, and Mechanical Brewery was born. James' vision for his brewery is a place for people to gather and connect in a one-of-a-kind space while enjoying equally distinctive microbrews.

The MB brewing process mirrors his philosophy to re-create something unique from a quality foundation and offers an experimental take on classic formulas to deliver unique hand-crafted beers.

Everything from the taps to tables at Mechanical Brewery has been made using repurposed materials. Filled with handmade art and custom-designed fixtures, the brewery offers a creative space to collaborate and connect.

Rick Vickers has been guest brewing throughout the Greater Philadelphia area and home brewing for over 20 years before joining Mechanical Brewery. With a passion for science and experimentation, Rick’s philosophy takes inspiration from classic beer styles worldwide and re-invents them into something new and unique. His brewing vision is synergistic with the MB mission to create something memorable from a quality foundation.

Rick is a South Jersey native who currently lives in Cherry Hill, NJ. When you can't find him at the brewery enjoying his favorite beer, the Double IPA, you'll catch him spending his free time outdoors.
